After a weekend of excess we were hoping for a quiet few days -no such luck! Work on Monday meant that a roast chicken salad was the dinner option in the house that night - much the same on Tuesday but every one likes the Thai Chicken curry, so it seems to be a weekly item on the menu, hardly adventurous I know but what the heck!
After watching England scrape a victory against Slovenia on Wednesday afternoon we headed out to our favourite Indian restaurant, The Gateway of India, where one of the chefs is called Rocky! Cobra lager and chicken Bhuna seem to go together like peaches and cream!
This weeks top recipes: Pimms Number 1 Cup, Goats cheese and honey pork with swede and potato mash!
For the Pimms - 1 part lemonade, 1 part dry white wine and 1 part pimms - fantastic! Drink it in half pints though! This recipe is courtesy of Will Hanks, our local Milk man!
The Goats cheese and honey pork is one of Gino D'Acampo's recipes - we tried this on Thursday night with wilted spinnach and Jersey Royals and it was very tasty! Go to the BBC web site to get this recipe!
Friday we dined on steak and chips with peas - lovely! And Saturday, with weather being so good we just had to have a barbcue with Liz & Bob - I have to confess that I did fall asleep at the table, but then I had been up and in Tesco's at 0530 am and then played a round of golf so I'm not sure it was the early morning or the Pimms that had the sombulant effect!
Sunday was roast loin of pork with all the trimmings and tonight is Beef Rendang - courtesy of the Telegraph on Saturday - the least said about Englands performance on Sunday, the better!
We're coming home, we're coming home!
Happy eating !
